Lost Film began as the minimalist guitar pop project of Jim Hewitt in Easthampton, MA in 2014. Having just moved away from Boston after spending several years playing under the moniker Orca Orca, Hewitt adjusted back to small town life by focusing on writing straight-forward, layered pop songs. Lost Film releases including Imago (The Native Sound) in 2015, Temporary (The Native Sound) in 2016 and Zero Summer (2019) have received praise from the likes of Noisey, DIY, and GoldFlakePaint.

Between Melting & Freezing is made up of material originally recorded as demos for 2019’s album Zero Summer and demonstrates Jim Hewitt at his most raw. Three of the four songs never felt right for Zero Summer and remained only in their stripped back guitar, vocal, lofi synth and drum machine glory. “Baseball” is nostalgic with an undeniable pop hook and stands in contrast to the melancholy of “Where You Are” and “Something Else”. The set is rounded out by the demo version of album opener “Confess”.
